American Economic Future Looks Much Brighter Print E-mail

Speak truth to power.Let's talk about the economy. This is data and FACTS which you will not hear nor read in local media. In truth, there are some signs of economic recovery, contradicting the neo-RepubliCON propaganda machine.  I am just trying to achieve the balance they refuse to provide. (I did send this to "them" in case you are wondering.)

First, it appears that no matter how hard Rush Limbaugh, Michael Weiner-Savage, Sean Insanity, Senator Demented (R-SC),RNC chair Steele, and all the other un-American right wing extremists tried, they could not bring down the American economy or its government.

But that is only attributable to the fact that they control no branch of the U. S. Government any longer. Things would be far different had they.

Looky-looky what we have. Since President Barack H. Obama became President, the Dow Jones Industrial Average has climbed over 20%. But that is not the REAL/TRUE story. You see, the DJIA is a leading indicator, so it generally tells you what the future may look like. Well, it told us that no one had any confidence in the mess Bush/Cheney left for Obama.

Well, the record books got a top ten record today. After six months the DJIA has risen 50%!!

Consumer sentiment gained an unbelievable 7% just last month.

Housing prices had a quarter to quarter rise for the first time in three years last month (on increasing sales).

Predictions are that unemployment will level off and begin to decrease in sixth months.

A BONANZA!!!

Well. not quite. How can I say "not quite"?

Because you have many problems yet to address. The first is the un-American propaganda networks. They control 95% of the talk radio market. They have a relatively small, but deeply disturbed following. About 20,000,000 in total. They now carry guns, including automatic weapons to town hall meetings and even Presidential gatherings.

Threats on the Presidents life have increased by 400% over any other President. A lot of Timothy McVeighs out there and they are getting pissed. Armed militias are at a record high, almost entirely made up of poor white folks egged on by rich white folks. Racism is alive and well in America.

The next largest threat is the failure to pass a very well crafted health care insurance reform package. One with a very strong and viable public option. But again, the demented ones are throwing every lie, hate and scare tactic known to mankind at any plan.

What's Obama's Plan? Well Obama does not have a plan. He made his desires known to Congress and he now stumps awaiting a bill just like the rest of us.

Is healthcare reform moving too fast? If you call working on this since at least 1974 too fast, well what can I tell you?

Will government will come between you and your doctor?  I only know of one case where I have seen the government come between a family/patient and their doctor(s). That was in 2005 when bush interrupted his vacation to sign a piece of contrived legislation to stop Terry Schiavo from dying with dignity. Several doctors ALL agreed she was no longer a living human being but was dead and just being a machine operated corpse.

Rationing of health care and interference are real. If you do not think rationing is going on, just go to an ER in a metropolitan area (maybe even SRMC) and see how sick people give up being seen after twelve hours of waiting.

Do you think our health care system is the best in the world? Watch this video in which a distraught woman describes being told to hit the road after she couldn't  pay for her husband's nursing home:

The only answers the Republican Senator Coburn gives is to help thy neighbor."Hey Bill, my husband has a traumatic brain injury, could you come over and help me stick in a feeding tube and maybe change his diaper. Oh and while your at it, what do you know about speech therapy?"

What's Obama's Plan? Well Obama does not have a plan. He made his desires known to Congress and he now stumps awaiting a bill just like the rest of us.

And the only interference I see between doctor and patients is from the health care insurers.

Finally, the bitch about the government taking our money. How about the head of Health South and the $2,000,000,000 (yes billion) he took a couple of years ago. He used it to fix up one of his mansions. And there are many insurance CEO's bagging $50,000,000 (that's millions) or more a year. These below are the few of 1600 health insurers, these are the publicly traded companies, and they only go to 2005. I am pretty sure you can add significant increases across the board for the 2008 numbers. Those folks should ask themselves, who is the rip off artist? Make your choice by comparing administrative costs below.

(Keep in mind that the last pay I saw for the Director of Med-iCare was $137,000 per annum. 5-year $685,000-that's thousands)

# United Health Group
CEO: William W McGuire
2005: 124.8 mil
5-year: 342 mil

# Caremark Rx
CEO: Edwin M Crawford
2005: 77.9 mil
5-year: 93.6 mil

# Aetna
CEO: John Rowe
2005: 22.1 mil
5-year:57.8 mil

# Cardinal Health
CEO: James Tobin
2005:1.1 mil
5-year:33.5 mil

# Cigna
CEO: H. Edward Hanway
2005:13.3 mil
5-year:62.8 mil

# Humana
CEO: Michael McAllister
2005:2.3 mil
5-year:12.9 mil

BOTTOM LINE-NO HEALTH CARE INSURANCE REFORM, NO FULL ECONOMIC RECOVERY.
